The Procurement Standard, places particular emphasis on ensuring compliance within nine key areas, this includes equality of opportunity within recruitment, monitoring, training and consultation.

It is divided into 18 wards, and contains a population of 248,922 residents, which is expected to grow by 5% over the next 10 years.
